These face-to-face meetings gave the team a chance to speak up about issues that impact everyday business operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During these legislative meetings, delegates emphasized two key priorities established by the NCBFAA:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Strengthening Fair, Effective Customs Enforcement:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Pushing for rules that keep borders secure while keeping legitimate shipments moving smoothly.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Tariff Advance Notification Transparency:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Asking lawmakers to give businesses plenty of warning before applying new tariffs or taxes on imported goods.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advocating for tariff advance notification transparency remains particularly vital for importers and supply chain managers. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When <a href=\"https:\/\/siships.com\/blog\/new-section-301-tariffs-in-july-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tariffs change without warning<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, companies face unexpected costs and shipping delays. Advance warnings help businesses plan their budgets, set accurate prices, and protect their profits. Going forward, companies must make sure their address, phone number, and tax ID match official records exactly. If information is missing or incorrect, CBP may deactivate the importer number, which stops goods from crossing the border. Additionally, customs brokers must have a direct, valid Power of Attorney on file with the importer of record.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These developments reflect a broader regulatory shift toward total transparency and data validation across all filings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>What This Means for Sheltered International Clients<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For clients of Sheltered International, these industry updates show why proactive compliance is so important.
